The employees of public medical-sanitary institutions included in the mandatory health insurance system will receive higher salaries based on individual professional performance, in accordance with the regulations that conceptually modify the mechanism for remunerating health professionals, IPN reports.
In the June 29 meeting of the Cabinet, Minister of Health Ruxanda Glavan said the salaries of doctors and medical workers will rise by 20% on average. “Emphasis is placed on the rise of the incomes of young specialists, with a length of service shorter than 10 years, whose pays will increase by 50% and even 100%. The measure is aimed at motivating the doctors to remain in the national health system and at excluding the inequities faced by young specialists,” she stated.
As a result, from July 1, 2016, the salaries of employees of public medical-sanitary institutions included in the mandatory health insurance system will consist of the main pay and salary guarantees and of the remuneration for performance. The monthly assessment of the performance indicators will be carried out by an expert commission of the institution where the salary earner works.
An extra sum of 295 million lei is needed in the second half of 2016 for increasing the pays. The money was planned in the health insurance fund for this year.
Statistics show that the number of employees in health facilities has continuously decreased during the last few years. In 2003 there were about 11,000 doctors in Moldova, while in 2015 the figure declined to slightly over 10,000. The number of medical assistants decreased by about 3,000 in the period.
