The hospitalized patients will be able to inform the authorities when they will be told to purchase drugs themselves. In this regard, the Ministry of Health aims to set up a telephone line that the patients will use to report cases when money is asked from them for particular medical examinations or services, Minister of Health Ruxanda Glavan said in an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by IPN.

“In 2016, we must lay emphasis on transparency and optimization of the use of public money. Everyone should strengthen the internal audit services. The health facilities were given a month to bring things at internal level in order,” said the minister, noting that the additional phone line for reporting irregularities will be launched in March.

Ruxanda Glavan noted that a national strategy on human resources in health will be soon adopted. As a result, a modified remuneration formula will be used from April 1. “Parliament is to adopt the technical procedure for passing the Law on Funds. Afterward, we will approve the new remuneration method, which will enable to increase salaries by 18-20% on average,” she stated.

The doctors will be able to go abroad for training, on trips financed by the state. “We are also analyzing several real possibilities of supporting young specialists by offering them dwellings or by enabling them to purchase apartments or homes on preferential loans,” stated Ruxanda Glavan.

She also said that the public hospitals will receive additional financing for buying consumables. The Ministry also aims to modify the procurement mechanisms and to digitize the health system.
