The restrictions related to COVID-19 imposed by the authorities since March 17 are lifted gradually and in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization. But the country’s population, and not only, should adjust to the epidemiological situation, either the cases of infection increase or not, IPN quoted Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu as saying in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
“We are currently going through the peak of the pandemic. You saw the forecasts made by the National Public Health Agency in concert with the World Health Organization. It depends on our individual behavior when and if that peak of the pandemic will be witnessed, but it’s clear that the most necessary measures were adopted and you saw that the nonworking period for public sector employees was extended so as to avoid crowdedness. Walks in the open air were permitted by adjusting the measures, but with particular limits,” stated Viorica Dumbrăveanu.
Even if some of the restrictions will be lifted gradually, the minister said the population should further follow those recommendations that can help stop the spread of the virus.
“Walks in the open air were allowed, but in groups not larger than three persons by maintaining social distancing. Retail trade in specialized shops was permitted, but with the same requirements as those for grocery stores. Protection measures for those who will make purchases and also individual measures for employees must be taken. We will fluidize access to stores and will supply retail outlets with single-use gloves, will respect all the surface and area disinfection rules and will supervise the state of health of employees. These measures should be taken further and we should adjust to the epidemiological situation, no matter how many cases of infection we will yet record in Moldova. These are the recommendations of the WHO,” stated the minister.
The lifting of restrictions for the hospitality industry will be discussed after May 15, when the state of emergency is to be lifted.
