Minister of Health Ruxanda Glavan admits that the efficiency expected in the health insurance system is absent and blames the hospital managers for this. She developed the issue in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

“The lack of efficiency in using public money in some hospitals leads to problems in the health system. As a result, the people do not have confidence in the health policy. There are cases when the needed medicines and medical equipment are absent and the necessary assistance is not provided. The system was planned to work in a different way,” stated the minister.

According to Ruxanda Glavan, there are yet cases when the patients are put in the situation to pay for medical services that are covered by the health policy. “The people must know that the health policy allows benefiting from free emergency and hospital medical services. There are also cases of protectionism, especially as regards the planned operations. Some people wait for an operation for years, while others for at most two months. The implementation of an electronic row would solve the problem,” said the minister.

She also said that some of the problems appear because not all the hospitals are under the management of the Ministry of Health. A part of them are managed by the local public authorities or institutions such as the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense.
