Health insurance to rise 50% in 2008

Health insurance policies will grow by more than 50% to 1,900 lei next year if the Law on Statutory Health Insurance Funds for 2008, as it is currently drafted, is passed by Parliament.
In addition, the statutory health insurance premium will rise to 6% of the monthly salary. 3% will be paid by the employer and the remaining 3% by the employee.
The statutory health insurance policy has this year a price tag of 1209 lei, up by 400 lei from last year. This year the statutory health insurance premium constitutes 5% of the monthly salary, as compared with 4% in 2006, equally split between the employer and the employee.
