The medically insured persons will benefit from medical services or compensated medicines without needing to have and present the mandatory health insurance policy on paper. The Cabinet on June 29 approved a bill to substitute the notion “mandatory health insurance policy” with “status of medically insured person”, IPN reports.

After the meeting of the Cabinet, the National Health Insurance Company’s director Dumitru Parfentiev explained that to access medical services and purchase or collect compensated drugs, the person will need only the identity card. The personal identification number (INDP) will show if the person is medically insured. The persons who purchase health policies individually can do it through the governmental electronic payments system MPay.

The document says the status of medically insured person of salary earners will be suspended if the insurance premiums in percentage contribution from the salary are not paid during over a year consecutively.
