A health care center for people infected with tuberculosis, who receive ambulatory treatment, and for the members of their families was inaugurated in Balti town, IPN reports.
According to the head of the Balti Health Division Feodora Rodiukova, the center’s specialists will visit the people with TB who are confined to bed at home. The persons in need will be provided clothes and food products.
The center was opened on the initiative of the Balti NGO “Speranta Terrei”. The center’s running costs will be covered with grants and humanitarian assistance. The building that houses the center was provided free by the local mayor’s office.
There were 162 officially recorded people with TB in Balti at the beginning of this year. Last year there were recorded 111 new cases of TB, three of which in children.
