The head of the Republican Council of Vitality Medical Expertise (CREMV), Leonid Zaharia was dismissed on the basis of his request. According to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, his request was satisfied at the General Assembly of CREMV, also attended by the minister Ion Ababii. The participants discussed the activity of CREMV in 2006 and its further activity in 2007. The office of the Council’s president was granted to Angela Rusnac, who held the office of chief-doctor at the Raion Hospital of Soroca. Previously, 18 doctors of the 23 working at CREMV accused Leonid Zaharia that he forged documents and had an uncivilised behaviour with the subordinate functionaries. In March 2006, the representatives of the Centre for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption (CCECC) said that about 20% of the disabled persons from Moldova received the disability degree illegally or that it was incorrectly set. According to a press-release of CCECC publicised in that period, as a result of the penal investigations, the Centre found that several medical files were missing from CREMV. 117 persons were examined again at the Council and other 9 at the Centre of Legal Medicine. They received different disability degrees.
