President Nicolae Timofti welcomes the people’s vote given in the June 14 local elections, which was mainly in favor of the pro-European parties. “The electoral option of the people confirms once again that the largest part of the population supports the country’s European development course. This people’s will must be respected and put into practice,” it is said in a communique of the presidential press service, quoted by IPN.
The head of state calls on the pro-European parties to swiftly form a parliamentary majority that would be able to vote in a new Government that will continue to implement the Association Agreement with the EU and all the institutional and economic reforms, agreed with the foreign partners and assumed at political level by most of the parties.
Nicolae Timofti said we need this political will to develop social and infrastructure projects that are at different implementation stages. “We are also obliged to remove the shortcomings from the financial-banking sector and to step up the fight against corruption and to build a correct and independence justice system. These measures will enable us to achieve an upper level of economic and social welfare and to ensure the observance of human rights in Moldova.
