President Igor Dodon transmitted a letter to Prime Minister Pavel Filip, whereby he requests to annul the order of 2012 by which the subject “History of Romanians” was included in the school program. The President asks that this should be replaced with the subject “History of Moldova” starting with the 2017-2018 school year, IPN reports.

“During the 25 years of independence of the Republic of Moldova, a conception that does not recognize the Moldovan people and Moldova’s statehood has been imposed on us, the citizens of this country. Starting with 1990, our history has been mystified and replaced, all the governments of the Republic of Moldova conceding the implementation of the humanities policies to the neighboring state, Romania,” says the President’s letter that was published on a social networking site by Igor Dodon’s spokesman Ion Ceban.

The President also said that the teaching of the History of Romanians keeps in society the state of tension and uncertainty as regards the future of the Moldovan state.

The Government’s senior communications adviser Stela Nistor has told IPN that she hasn’t been yet informed about such a letter.
