The director general of Moldova’s Railways Andrei Domascan was dismissed by an order of Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vasile Botnari on February 11. According to the minister, the director is to blame for the non-performance of the tasks set for reforming the company, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry.

Vasile Botnari expressed his concern about the slow pace of the reform at the company. “The railroad network of Moldova needs a change as soon as possible. We intend to attract significant investments to develop the company, to improve infrastructure and the rolling stock. In order to make progress, we must have a well-planned internal structure. It is very important for the company’s management to be mobilized so as to bring about qualitative chances at Moldova’s Railways in the near future,” he stated.

Andrei Domascan was elected director of the state-run company Moldova’s Railways last August.
