The chairman of the Association of Poultry Producers is investigated for passive corruption. According to the National Anticorruption Center, a person reported that he was told to pay 90,000 lei bribe for influencing decision makers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry into leasing out to him a plot belonging to the experimental technological station “Maximovca”. The plot was to be put up for auction and, as the accused assured, the person was to be declared winner, IPN reports.
The National Anticorruption Center started a criminal case over passive corruption. Under the control of anticorruption officers, the person transmitted the first tranche of 45,000 lei to the accused on April 30. The rest of the money was paid in the evening of May 22. At about 9pm, the officers caught the culprit in the act of taking the money in the center of Chisinau.
The man yielded up the money voluntarily. He is investigated on the outside as he admitted his guilt.
