The chairwoman of the National Liberal Party Vitalia Pavlichenko accused the people protesting in the Great National Assembly Square of being of pro-Russian orientation and of supporting the parties of the left. Andrei Nastase, one of the leaders of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, which staged the protests, denied the accusations, saying they did nothing else but mobilize the people in a protest. Contradictory statements on the issue were made in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
“The leaders of the Platform promote statehood of the Stalinist model. The people of pro-Romanian orientation are kept away. In March they rejected the tricolor. They supported and commiserated with Grigore Petrenco and are ready to accept even Igor Dodon in their ranks. It is a movement that divides,” stated Vitalia Pavlichenko.
Andrei Nastase replied that their main goal is to mobilize the people in the fight against the oligarchic government. “For us, the political orientation, nationality or religion of those who protest does not count. The Council of the Great National Assembly includes representatives of different categories such as students, pensioners, doctors, farmers and former combatants. There is also a unionist there, who forms part of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”,” he stated.
He refuted the assertion that the idea of forming the Platform was put forward by him. “This idea appeared long ago. I wasn’t the initiator. I got acquainted with Igor Botan in recent times. I also didn’t know the other founders of the Platform and I met them for the first time at the news conference held to constitute the Platform” said Andrei Nastase.
