A national campaign for promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing contagious diseases and tuberculosis was launched Friday, December 15, by the Association of Healthcare Journalists, Info-Prim Neo reports. As Viorica Mija states, the campaign “Simple hygiene rules for a sustainable health” aims at familiarizing people with the most elementary individual and public hygiene rules as essential methods to prevent communicable diseases and tuberculosis, and at promoting idea of obligatory healthy behaviour for each member of society. Viorica Mija says that during the three-month campaign, the Healthcare Journalists and their supporters will try to make people realize the importance of the simple protection rules, as washing hands, avoiding spitting in public places, using single-use handkerchiefs. A number of awareness actions, by distributing single-use handkerchiefs and informative materials, will take place in the centre of the capital. Director of the National TB&Pulmonology Institute, Professor Silviu Sofroni, told the press conference that mass-media representatives promote the ideas concerning a healthy lifestyle. Doctors often have no time to discuss with each person and tell them about the danger of getting ill in case hygiene rules are not followed. But the journalists, through the agency of mass media call on the general public and mediate hygiene rules for preventing contagious diseases, especially tuberculosis. “Simple hygiene rules for a sustainable health” campaign plans to air radio/TV spots, distribute informative materials, broadcast TV reports, radio programmes, and publish commentaries. A group of journalists will participate in a training seminar within the campaign, where they will be familiarized with the problems related to the public health. The campaign’s organizers stated that if municipal radio station “Antena C” continues to work and is not liquidated by Chisinau Municipal Council, will house a radio-marathon joined by specialists of the National Scientific-Practical Centre for Preventive Medicine and TB&Pulmonology Institute.
