After a pause of three years, Hancesti town will again host the international motocross competition Hancesti Mayor’s Cup. The race starts at 11am on October15, at the exit from Hancesti towards Leova. The competition will involve amateurs and professionals from over ten states. Almost 80 athletes have confirmed their participation so far.

Mayor of Hancesti Alexandru Botnari, in a news conference at IPN on October 10, said the 11th competition of the kind will be held this year. In the absence of financing, the event could not be staged in 2016 and 2015, but now a number of sponsors expressed their readiness to help. “We did our best to restore the tradition of this championship that had a very big value. We anticipate it will be an incredible competition,” noted the mayor.

Alexandru Botnari also said that the event brings together tens of thousands of spectators. “The motocross is a type of sport where everyone can demonstrate their capacity. It counts who finishes first. The top prize of the competition is €700, the second prize is €500, while the third prize is €300,” stated the mayor.

The prize money is of €8,700. All the organizational costs are covered by sponsors. The Hancesti mayor’s office will cover the costs associated with the cups and diplomas. The race is almost 2 km long. The arbitrators are from Kyiv.

The 2014 competition was organized after a pause of two years. Alexandru Botnari set the goal of holding the competition annually from now on, without interruptions.
