Hail destroys crops in parts of Moldova

The hail of May 16 damaged hectares of agricultural crops in Moldova. Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that the districts of Rezina and Cimislia were the worst hit. The district commissions for emergencies are working on the field to assess the damage caused. Sixteen hectares of sunflower were destroyed in Otac village of Rezina, while in Horodiste village of the same district there were affected six hectares of crops. Vineyards, orchards and crops were damaged in Hartop village of Cimislia. The hail in Colibasi village of Cahul district affected 54 hectares of orchard. The damage in the other settlements is being assessed. Yellow code for rain accompanied by hail and strong winds had been issued for May 16.
