Ecologic campaign Hai, Moldova! will clean the Morovaia village near the archaeological complex Orheiul Vechi on Saturday, April 28. About 60 people from the village and from Chisinau are participating, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The volunteers will clean the Morovaia defile, a protected area in Morovaia village. Valeriu Pasa, director of Orheiul Vechi reserve, said the area was chosen for its diverse ecosystem with rare flora and fauna, including some endangered species. The collected waste will be sent to a processing facility.
The action scheduled for this Saturday anticipated the big day, May 12, when volunteers will engage in a nationwide clean-up.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat signed an order of support for the ecologic campaign Hai, Moldova! and set a series of tasks for various state institutions.
The Ministry of Environment will send the staff of the State Ecologic Inspectorate to participate in the process of identifying wastes in the country. The Ministry of Education will organize two lessons dedicated to the importance of protecting the environment in kindergartens, professional schools, lyceums, colleges and universities. The Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Transports and Road Infrastructure will provide transport for garbage at the request of local authorities. The Ministry of Youth and Sport will attract youth organizations and stimulate the most active volunteers involved in the ecologic campaign. The Ministry of Defense will send National Army soldiers to participate in clean-up actions. The Civil Protection and Exceptional Situations Service will provide the volunteers with as much equipment as possible.
The Prime Minister recommends local authorities to form groups for coordinating the campaign at district level so that on May 12, clean-up actions should take place in all districts.
