The Constitutional Court (CC) invalidated the dismissal of Corneliu Gurin from the post of prosecutor general two weeks after his appointment. He will be thus reinstated in this post. Such a decision was taken by the CC unanimously on May 20, IPN reports.

The Court pronounced on a challenge submitted by unaffiliated MP Sergiu Sarbu. The lawmaker asked the CC to pass judgment in this case as soon as possible as the Prosecutor General’s Office has been without a manager for several months.

After the decision was pronounced, Sergiu Sarbu told the journalists that he filed the challenge in order to protect the Constitution. He denied having it done at request or in order to defend the interests of a political party.

The decision is definitive and irrevocable and came into force on adoption.
