Gumenita’s lawyer waits for early elections, Teo Carnat

Iacob Gumenita’s lawyer intentionally postpones examining the case of former deputy commissioner of Chisinau, considers Teo Carnat, the lawyer for Damian Hancu, one of the young men who were maltreated in police stations on April 7, 2009. “They wait for early elections because they hope the government will change. If so, the sentence in his case may be different,” Teo Carnat stated for Info-Prim Neo. According to him, the court of law will not pass judgment on this case until 2012. Teo Carnat said that until now the lawyers delayed the examination of the case, arguing that Iacob Gumenita was ill and invoking other reasons. The next hearing was set for the middle of September. “On September 15, there will be a hearing and it is not excluded that Gumenita’s lawyer prepares a scenario for it to be put off,” said Teo Carnat. Damian Hancu is a witness in the case of the former deputy commissioner of Chisinau Iacob Gumenita, who is accused of misuse of authority during the April 2009 events.
