A guidebook designed to help adjust the national legislation and policies on health and security at work to the European standards was launched within the Support to the Implementation of Moldova-EU Agreements Project. Bernhard Brueckner, one of the authors of the guidebook, said special attention is paid to this field because the work-related accidents and diseases cause losses of about €50 billion a year in Europe, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the authors, it is very important in the adjustment process to have a clear view on the regulations that must be implemented. This view must be discussed with all the players involved in this process, including civil society, trade unions, employers, consumer associations.
“The social dialogue is very important throughout the adjustment process. A special council that will monitor the harmonization of the legislation on health and security at work and its implementation was created as part of the tripartite commission for collective talks,” Bernhard Brueckner said.
Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Vadim Pistrimciuc said the guide will be useful for the Ministry's specialists engaged in the adjustment process and for the Labor Inspection's experts. Greater attention will be paid to training company employees and informing the public about health and safety at work and the quality of the working conditions and environment.
A number of 17 guidebooks that will help adjust the national legislation to the European standards will be produced as part of the Support to the Implementation of Moldova-EU Agreements Project, which is financed by the EU. Seven guides have been already issued.
