Former Communist lawmakers Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuk formed the parliamentary group of the Socialists, Info-Prim Neo reports. The announcement was made by Igor Dodon in Friday’s sitting of the legislature. The leader of the Communist parliamentary group Maria Postoiko demanded that the three should renounce their seats. “You assumed the obligation to renounce the seats if you leave the group. You must fulfill it now,” she stated. In reply, Veronica Abramchuk remembered an older situation. “In the 1990s, when the Communist Party was banned, the Socialists offered you two offices so that you could work in secret. You were included in the list of our party and became MP. You then created your own faction,” she said. She stressed the accusations of betrayal made by the Communist parliamentary group against the group of Socialists are untruthful. Communist lawmaker Eduard Musuc mounted the rostrum and wished every member of the ruling alliance to have by a ‘Dodon’. In a communiqué issued by the press service of Igor Dodon, it is said that before the 1994 legislative elections, the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin asked personally the Socialists to include a group of Communist politicians in the electoral list of their party as the Communist Party could not take part in elections. “After entering Parliament, the Communists repeatedly betrayed their Socialist colleagues, formed their own faction and staged an aggressive campaign to marginalize the Socialists,” reads the communiqué. Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchul left the Communist parliamentary group on November 4.
