A group of activists for April 27 planned a National Group Work Day under the theme “Moldova – Big House”. The people who are not indifferent to the environment are invited to join in the cleanup activities. The local public authorities and municipal enterprises are urged to provide the necessary help to dispose of the waste that will be gathered.

At a press conference hosted by IPN, Sergei Ungureanu, president of the Public Association “Welfare”, said that if we want to have a beautiful country, which we can be proud of, and want to build a beautiful future for our children, with beautiful fields, clean rivers and lakes, with traditions, we must make a little effort and take care of what surrounds us. Volunteers are invited to join the cleanup activities throughout the country on Saturday, April 27, including in Orheiul Vechi.

Adrian Domentiuc, head of the Haiducii People’s Movement, said that the cleanup effort will primarily cover the areas near springs and wells. It is necessary to maintain cleanliness every day and not only in cities, but also in villages.

“If we keep our country, our home cleaner, then we also strive for a healthier life. Every object placed in its place, the garbage picked up from the ground is a small step to make a more organized and healthy life. Let’s roll up our sleeves and not look at cleaning as at an obligation or a boring task. Let’s see it as a chance to live more beautifully, better and to ensure a cleaner future for our children,” said Dina Karpinski, president of the Public Association “Izvorul Sperantei”.

According to Vladimir Sterpov, activist of the Public Association “Regional Impact Network”, cleanliness is the most important element of culture. “The state of our yard, our homes, streets, villages, cities, the republic influences the attitude towards us, the inhabitants of Moldova. Dirt and anti-sanitation mean disrespect for ourselves. Good habits, as a rule, pass over time into good traditions. Everyone keeps the childhood memory when, before Easter, our parents, together with us, the children, cleaned the house and the space around it: whitewashed, painted, swept the yard. This is one of the best traditions of our people. In some villages, it is still preserved. In the cities, it is less preserved. The time has come to revive it with everyone, with all Moldova. Bringing the territory of the Republic of Moldova in order is possible only through the efforts of all the people, every inhabitant of our country,” said the activist.

Vladimir Sterpov reminded that group work is when neighbors, friends, relatives help each other, build a house together, reap the rich harvest, clean the street. Everyone gathers, works collectively, voluntarily to help each other and it is an activity that is often followed by a small party, jokes, songs, stories. “Let’s all go out together on this day to restore cleanliness and order in our yard. Let’s take care of our homes, fences, gardens. Let’s not forget about fountains,” said the activist of the Public Association “Regional Impact Network”.

“We call on all the residents of Moldova to go out on this day and prove that we are good hosts, that we have common interests and common goals and let’s clean our homes each! We also invite all the embassies, representative offices of foreign institutions and projects to participate in joint cleaning activities in the country,” said Sergiu Rosior, another activist of the association “Regional Impact Network”.
