The Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu participated in the ceremony to commemorate the victims of the war in Ukraine, laying flowers and sending a message of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The official strongly condemned the Russian invasion and stressed that Moldova will further support Ukraine for as long as necessary, IPN reports.
"Today marks three years of pain, three years of injustice, but also three years of heroism, patriotism, resistance - a lesson for all of us. After these three years, the value and price of the word "peace" is completely different," said Igor Grosu.
The politician reiterated the support for Ukrainian refugees: "We will treat all those who came to us as our brothers, as our children."
In his speech, Speaker Grosu drew attention to the danger posed by the Kremlin regime, saying that Vladimir Putin "will not stop at Ukraine". He also stressed that a simple truce would be "an illusion of peace", giving the aggressor the opportunity to replenish its forces.
Igor Grosu thanked the Ukrainian people for their courage and resistance, noting that Ukraine must achieve a just peace, based on respect for its territorial integrity.
