The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of this year grew by 2.5% compared with the corresponding period last year to 34.2 billion lei, IPN has learned from the National Bureau of Statistics.
Such sectors as retail and wholesale trade, maintaining and repair of cars and motorcycles, transportation and storage, accommodation and public alimentation activities contributed 1.5% to the GDP growth, while the building sector contributed 0.2%.
The information and communications services, financial and insurance activities, real estate transactions, professional, scientific and technical activities, administrative and support services made a 0.1% contribution to the rise in the GDP.
The GDP in the first half of the year was 63.921 billion lei.
The Gross Domestic Product is the final result of the production activity of resident producing units during a certain period of time.
