Communist MP Grigore Petrenko Wednesday was quizzed as a witness in the cases opened over the April 2009 events. Before entering the Prosecutor Generals Office, he told the reporters that the April 7 protests constituted an attempted coup staged by those who now govern the country and the prosecutors should question Vlad Filat, Mihai Ghimpu and Dorin Chirtoaca as suspects, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Before those events, they informed the Chisinau City Hall that they intent to hold protests on April 7. They mobilized the people in protests and coordinated all the actions with the extremist groups so as to destabilize the situation in the country, make the police to use the arms and come to power by illegal ways,” Petrenko said. The Communist MP also said that he does not understand why the Prosecutor Generals Office decided to question now him and other four MPs who were in the Parliament's building on April 7 in the morning.. He stated that the Liberal Democratic Party and other political parties committed themselves to respecting public order when they informed they will stage protests, but they did not do it. “We know who organized those acts of vandalism. We have the statements of the so-called 'provokers' who confirmed that their acts had been coordinated with the political forces,” Petrenko said. According to Grigore Petrenko, those who rule the country do not want that the truth about the April 7 events comes out, while the parliamentary inquiry commission into those events, which is headed by the Liberal-Democrat MP Vitalie Nagachevski, is a farce.
