“Gregory Tsamblak” University of Taraclia turns into a branch of “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse in Bulgaria, IPN reports, with reference to Bulgarian sources.
As a result of a principled agreement between President Maia Sandu and her Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev of October 2022, treating of the subject during the visit paid by the Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova to Chisinau in November 2023, officials of the educational institutions recently discussed details in a videoconferences so that the agreement could be eventually signed at the end of next January.
In the virtual meeting, the officials discussed important aspects of the future cooperation between the two educational institutions, including academic and administrative details.
The rector of the University of Ruse, academician Hristo Beloev, confirmed the preparations for the accession event, saying that the University of Ruse will provide three specialties for national Bulgarians from Taraclia: business management, agricultural technology and transport, informatics. These programs were chosen in accordance with the needs of specialists from places with over 40,000 Bulgarian ethnics, said the quoted source.
The future agreement will also envision the possibility of creating European conditions of study for young people form Bolgrad region of Ukraine, which is populated by Bulgarian ethics, so as to lay the basis of trilateral cooperation between Moldova, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
The University of Ruse has supported the development of the State University in Taraclia since this was founded in 2004, offering methodological support and information resources. The University maintains an active relationship with the administration of Taraclia district in Moldova and is involved in multiple initiatives of the Bulgarians from Bugeac, such as folk festivals, exhibitions of agricultural producers and Bulgarian language Olympiads. The University of Ruse annually stages practical linguistic courses and qualification courses. It also implements long-term mobility for TSU students within the Erasmus+ program.
