“Greetings, Chisinau!” Festival opens July 14

The capital city hosts the first day of the Festival “Greetings, Chisinau!” on July 14. The residents and guests of Chisinau have free access to book and painting exhibitions, creation workshops and showings of films made in the course of the year, including ones that promote the image of the city, describe the history and sights of Chisinau, the head of the Chisinau City Hall’s Culture Division Valentina Volontir has told IPN.

According to Valentina Volontir, the Festival is designed to promote the image of Chisinau. “The moment is opportune to attract tourists who would visit Chisinau in summer so that they enjoy the traditional cuisine and familiarize themselves with crafts and traditional arts, folk music and dances and everything that Chisinau city can present,” she stated.

On the first day of the Festival, the visitors are invited to take part in different cultural-artistic events downtown and in the districts of the capital city. An artisan fair will be mounted on the pedestrian street Eugen Doga starting at 11am. Those who are fond of trips will be able to go on excursions through Chisinau by the tourist trolleybuses from midday until 4pm, starting from the Triumphal Arch.

The Buzau Childhood Theater will present the play “Aladdin’s Lamp” in “Alunelul” Park starting at 5pm. Different exhibitions can be visited from 6pm, while from 7pm the visitors can see a folk music recital.

The Festival “Greetings, Chisinau!” is held during July 14 -17 to celebrate the 586th anniversary of the first documentary attestation of the capital city that is marked on July 17.
