The Green Ecologist Party sent a letter to the embassies of the EU member states, asking them to politically support Moldova so as to facilitate the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the party, the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU is the first distinct political step towards the European integration of Moldova. Moldova is yet to do a lot of things to become a European state, where there is no corruption, the human rights are respected and all the European conventions and directives concerning environment protection and sustainable development are respected. All these objectives can be achieved if the Moldovan authorities have political will.
The party says the Vilnius Summit, where Moldova is to initial the Association Agreement with the EU, is an event that will crown the hopes and efforts made to come closer to the EU during 20 years. In the period, Moldova has faced political constraints imposed by high-ranking envoys sent regularly to Chisinau by the Kremlin in order to undermine the people’s confidence in the pro-European government and to force Moldova to join the Russia – Belarus – Kazakhstan Customs Union.
