The Green Ecologist Party of Moldova presented its candidates for the European parliamentary elections, who are written on the lists of the Green Party of Romania. These candidates are: Alecu Renita, who heads the Ecologist Movement of Moldova, and Andrei Dumbraveanu, who is the chairman of the National Council of the Green Ecologist Party of Moldova, IPN reports.

In the presentation event, Alecu Renita said they will do their utmost for Moldova to become part of the EU and to take part in all the great development projects of the EU. “We want to bring to Moldova everything that is related to green economy. We will make effort to obtain European funds to extend the forests up to 25% in Moldova. Moldova’s image will change if we extend the area of forests from 10% to 25%,” he stated.

Another project that will be promoted by Alecu Renita is the transformation of the Prut River from a border river into a brotherhood river. For the purpose, there will be set up a number of international parks with additional workplaces and opportunities for developing businesses. “We want to obtain new programs so as to restore our soils and the infrastructure for neutralizing and recycling waste. I’m convinced that the Europeans are very receptive,” said the candidate.

Andrei Dumbraveanu said that Moldova, after it signs the Association Agreement and the accession treaties, will make a series of amendments to the national legislation. The EU will put forward multiple conditions concerning the environment, the people’s security. “All these things will have to be coordinated. Permanent coordination can be ensured by intermediaries between the European Parliament and the Moldovan Parliament,” he stated.

Secretary general of the Green Party of Romania Silviu Dumitru said it is for the first time that the lists of their party include Moldovan candidates. “We think that Moldova’s future is in Europe. Romania will help Moldova to enter the European Parliament,” he noted.

In the lists of the Green Party of Romania, Alecu Renita comes fourth, while Andrei Dumbraveanu – seventh. In the ballots, the Green Party is the tenth.
