Gratiesti rain channeling to be cleared this week

Gratiesti lake is unlikely to flood, at least for now. “This week the rain water channeling will be cleared and repaired so that abundant precipitations don’t cause flooding. This lake’s only problem remains the mud”, stated Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca on a visit to the scene, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Gratiesti Lake's maintenance is one of the main concerns of the local mayor's office, which requested Government subsidies for the purpose. Until the financial issues are solved, the lake will be rented to some private entities. They are responsible to monitor the level of water and take care the nearby community isn't affected when it rains. In 2005, the local dam broke and the water flooded a big segment of road, extending to Posta Veche district in Chisinau.
