The Ministry of Justice will receive €9,000 in financial support from the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung for promoting professional ethics among juridical professions with a view to ensuring zero tolerance of corruption. The money was obtained as a result of a grants contest and is intended to support the implementation of the justice sector reform strategy, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Justice, the grant will be used to assess the codes of ethics and make amendments where necessary so that they meet the international standards. Moreover, there will be elaborated codes of ethics for juridical professions that do not have such conduct guides. There will be staged training seminars on the best practices in professional ethics and carried out a campaign to raise awareness of the necessity of respecting the code of ethics.

Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said the observance of professional ethics is a very important condition for the justice sector representatives and is to play a key role in the process of increasing responsibility in this sector.

“Justice is the area where the results cannot be seen immediately. We are glad that the justice sector reform strategy is being implemented and appreciate the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities,” said Thorsten Geissler, director of the Rule of Law Program South East Europe of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.

Konrad Adenauer Foundation intends to donate a collection of decisions of the Constitutional Court of Germany, translated into Romanian. This year, there will be organized a regional conference involving judges from a number of states, including Moldova, to exchange experience and good practices.
