Granite stairs in Valea Morilor Park, built in the 70s, have been inaugurated on Tuesday, September 17, after more than a year of renovation works. The rehabilitation of the 224 steps was possible thanks to a grant of almost 19 million Moldovan lei, offered by the Local Council of Sector 1, Bucharest municipality, Romania.

The praetor of Centru sector, Pavel Rusu, stated that both the stairs and the square dedicated to the MIA heroes that fell on duty had been completely restored. The praetor also said that after the reconstruction, the steps would last for hundreds of years.

The mayor of sector 1, Bucharest municipality, Daniel Tudorache, mentioned that two years ago he came to Chisinau for the first time and then he wanted to show that people from Bucharest and Romania, supported their brothers in Chisinau. "It is a project of good practice for you and for us, but especially for the mayors in Romania, who I think bit by bit will come to invest in Chisinau and I hope that in other mayor offices in the Republic of Moldova too. This is our goal - to give a helping hand,” said Daniel Tudorache.

Present at the inauguration, the Romanian ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniță, mentioned that this event would definitely remain in the history of Chisinau and would be positively appreciated by future generations. "This pearl, as it was called, I am convinced would happily add up to the crown of successes that Romania has achieved in the Republic of Moldova. And this is because for you, the inhabitants of the city of Chisinau, this renovation adds up to the Organ Hall and the National Museum of Art or to the various cultural projects and programs carried out year by year with great generosity," the ambassador noted.

The contribution of Chisinau municipality to the project constituted 3.5 million lei.
