During the next 3 months, imports of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds, including crushed ones, will be allowed only under a license issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, as decided today by the Commission for Exceptional Situations.

Applications for import licenses will be examined by a committee established by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the National Agency for Food Safety, as well as representatives of professional organizations for the relevant product.

According to Ministry, the measure aims to stabilize grain prices and protect domestic producers, creating conditions for domestic producers to sell their stored crops and gain competitive advantages.

Only businesses or individuals carrying out economic activities in the field of production of oil and vegetable fats, milling products, preparations for feeding farm animals and breeding animals will be eligible for import licenses.

The application for an import license should be accompanied by documents justifying the need to replenish stocks.
