Grain harvest is comparable to last five years’ average

Wheat was harvested from almost 350,000 hectares or 98% of the total sown area. The total harvest constitutes 1.13 million tonnes, IPN reports.

According to an informative note from the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, the yield was around 3.3 tonnes per hectare, which is comparable to the averages of the last five years.

Barley was harvested on 61,000 hectares, yielding a total 181,000 tonnes on both autumn and spring varieties. The average yield was of 3.1 t/ha for autumn barley and 2.7 t/ha for spring barley. 

The harvesting of dry peas and autumn rapeseed was also completed. Dry pea was harvested from 14,250 hectares, averaging at 2.12 t/ha. Rape was gathered from 36,800 hectares, with an average yield of 2.08 t/ha.
