Graduation exam gives headaches to Transnistria students

The students and their parents in the Transnistrian region are frustrated by what the rebel authorities call the unique state graduation examination. According to them, the examination limits the opportunities of following further studies because its results are not recognized outside the Transnistrian territory, Info-Prim Neo reports. The exam has been introduced gradually by the Transnistrian authorities as an emulation of the Russian model and starting this year is mandatory for all those who seek graduation from school. Irina Anashkina, senior methodist at the Ukrainian Language Department of the Transnistrian Education Institute, says that Ukraine's examination system is different from that of Transnistria. The unique graduation exam is a requirement only for those who want to go to universities. For the rest of the students, graduation exams are held in a traditional manner. Specialists at the Institute are sure that the unique state examination will not be canceled. Yet, the local education authorities intend to cooperate with their Russian and Ukrainian counterparts to adjust the test so that they can be recognized.
