Graduates of Military Academy receive rank of lieutenant

A number of 58 graduates of the 2017 class of the Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun” of Chisinau, among whom 11 girls, received bachelor’s degree diplomas and the primary military rank of lieutenant. The best graduates of the class in infantry, artillery and transmissions got the insignia “Eminent Military Member”. The ceremony was held in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau, IPN reports.

Deputy Minister of Defense Gheorghe Galbura said that during four years of military training the students enjoyed the best training conditions. “From now on, you will form part of the armed forces - elite corps for which devotion, honor and love for the homeland are the most important words,” he stated.

Acting commanding lecturer of the Military Academy, Colonel Gheorghe Turcanu said a modern officer should be a good citizen and a real patriot and should have knowledge and skills that will enable them to act with dignity in situations of different difficulty levels. He called on the graduates to continuously improve their skills so as not to lag behind the modern military.

Lieutenant Alexei Hemei said the generation of military persons grew together with the Military Academy, which managed to considerably improve the quality of studies in a short period of time. “We can say that today our dream came true. We are confident in tomorrow and call on you to be sure that we will do our best to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova,” stated the lieutenant.

The studies at the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” last for four years. Since 2012, the institution has enrolled girls, who study at all the faculties.
