The MBA program launched last year with the support of the U.S Government is an experience that changes scholars’ lives and offers them good prospects when they return home, said two of the beneficiaries of a similar program Vasile Tofan and Cristina Harea, who shared their experience of studying in the United States in a news conference at IPN.

“Fifteen years ago, I was lucky to win a contest and to obtain a scholarship from the U.S. Government. I studied at one of the best business schools in the U.S. This is an experience that changes your life. This program allowed me to return home with a different perspective, new knowledge and a new vision,” said Cristina Harea, who now heads AmCham Moldova.

Cristina Harea encourages the young people who are in the process of applying for a school with the MBA program. “The application rounds are held in winter. I tell the young people to take into account this extraordinary scholarship. I think it’s known to what extent our country needs people with new visions and young people with good training and knowledge gained at the best Western schools. They must return home and contribute to the improvement of the private and public sectors in Moldova,” she stated.

“It is a very generous program that offers almost US$100,000 to the young people who are accepted at one of the top 50 universities of the U.S., on condition that they return home and work for the benefit of the Moldovan economy,” said Vasile Tofan, entrepreneur from the investment fund Horizon Capital.

According to the two, in Moldova there is a wide discrepancy between the university curriculum and the necessities in business. People with new views, with a lot of courage and with good global perspective are needed. The top programs always offer the possibility of looking at things from another level, of adopting a strategic approach and of having a wider view of things.

The new MBA program was launched last year, but in Moldova was presented six months ago. Until now there was no applicant from Moldova. The program covers up to 100% of the costs of studies. The costs related to accommodation, transport to and from the U.S and on the territory of the state are covered by the scholars. The application for grant can be submitted immediately after receiving notification of the admission to the university. The application form is submitted through www.seedgrant.md. The deadline for submissions is 75 days before the beginning of the program of studies.
