Govt. reshuffles vice premiers' powers

The Government has redistributed the powers of its deputy premiers, after a new one has been appointed, Info-Prim Neo reports. The fresh deputy premier, Valentin Mejinschi, will coordinate the Government 's prerogatives in terms of observing the citizens' human rights and freedoms, maintaining the public order and fighting the crime. Those activities are being implemented by the Ministries for Defense and Justice, by the Anti-Corruption Center, the Border Guards Service, by the State Protection and Guard Service, by the Public Procurement Agency. The vice premier will ensure the cooperation with NGOs dealing with human rights and liberties, with countering corruption and trafficking in humans. President Vladimir Voronin hopes the new vice premier Valentin Mejinschi will ensure efficient interaction amongst the governmental and and non-governmental structures, thus conjugating the efforts in countering negative phenomena. The Cabinet now has four deputy prime-ministers: Igor Dodon (also a Minister for Economy and Trade), Andrei Statan (also a Minister for Foreign Affairs), Victor Stepaniuc and Valentin Mejinschi.
