Governor Mihail Formuzal: “Gagauzia's Executive Committee made progress during 1,000 workdays”

Gagauz Bashkan (Governor) Mihail Formuzal said that during its 1,000 workdays, the Executive Committee of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia contributed to the establishment of social and political stability in region. The historical debts were settled, while the social projects financed by foreign embassies have produced the expected results. The accomplishments were enumerated at a news conference on Wednesday, November 11, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihail Formuzal spoke about the results achieved by the present government during 1,000 days, stressing that the previous government resigned in 1,000 days exactly. “Gagauzia made progress in ensuring the observance of the human rights and freedoms. The Gagauz people are not harassed for their political orientations and no economic entity in the region can complain that the state appropriated their business or property,” the Bashkan said. Formuzal also said that in the relations with Chisinau, the authorities of Gagauzia have a firm position and defend the rights of the Gagauz people. Speaking about the economic situation in the autonomous unit, the Governor said that Gagauzia's budget during 2007-2008 had been fulfilled -101.1% in 2007 and 101.6% in 2008. The debts of 10 million lei for power and heat and the loan of 20 million lei have been paid. A number of 600 new workplaces have been created during three years. The program “Eleven Steps Towards the People” initiated by the new executive envisions the creation of 3,000 new workplaces over four years. “The debts hindered us from achieving this objective, but now we hope it will be achieved,” Formuzal said. The Bashkan also said that a number of medical workers have received training in Turkey, while a part of the students study abroad. The report on the Executive Committee's work will be presented in every settlement of Gagauzia.
