Moldova’s energy strategy until 2030, which was approved by the Government on January 16, is based on the objective of becoming integrated into the European energy market, developing simultaneously the cooperation potential with the Eastern partners. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that this is a document of prospect and a practical guide for all the interested sides, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The document envisions the bidirectional construction of transport connections for strengthening the status of transit country for electric power and natural gas and for fully developing the internal capacities for generating electric power. “We aim to attract substantial investments in this sector, the main objective being to modernize the heat and power generation capacities for covering the internal needs and the export of electricity to the Balkan countries,” said Valeriu Lazar.
According to the official, both the strategy and the national plan of action on energy efficiency for 2013-2015, which were approved by the Government, provide solutions to the problems related to the energy efficiency and the renewable sources of energy.
Among the strategic objectives that are to be achieved by 2030 are: to ensure the reliable supply of natural gas by diversifying the supply ways and sources and by building storage facilities; to strengthen Moldova’s role of transits country for natural gas; to create a powerful platform for generating electric power and heat; to improve energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources of energy.
The strategy envisions ensuring the legislative, institutional and operational framework for real competition, effectively opening the market, setting the price of energy in a transparent and equitable way, ensuring a modern and competitive institutional framework for developing the energy industry.
