“Our common resources should be allocated responsibly to all those who need assistance and should help agriculture to be profitable,” said the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă, referring to the protest mounted by the farmers on Tuesday. According to him, the Premier and other responsible officials from the Cabinet held tens of meetings on different communication platforms, IPN reports.
Daniel Vodă noted that the authorities told transparently and clearly about the support offered to the famers to improve the situation in the whole agricultural sector, not only for those who produce grain for export, with the grain sector being affected by war, interruption of trade and the world economic crisis.
“The Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry are consistent and help the farmers in a targeted way, not only the members of one association, including by disbursing 1.9 billion lei subsidies this year, by refunding the VAT. At the moment, we are helping with the force majeure certificates,” stated the spokesman.
After a number of failed attempts to reach a consensus with the authorities, the farmers returned with their tractors to the Great National Assembly Square. In protest, they travelled along Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd with their tractors, honking. They passed the Parliament Building and the Presidential Place and travelled up to the rotary on Ion Creangă St, returning then back to the central square of Chisinau. The farmers also traveled along other streets in central Chisinau and ultimately returned to the Great National Assembly Square.
