The Government’s presidium constituted by the legislative body on Wednesday is a reflection of the Council of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) in the executive, political analyst Arcadie Barbarosie, the head of the Public Policy Institute, has told Info-Prim Neo. The way in which the Alliance for European Integration governed was criticized during the previous administration. The constitution of the Government’s presidium and the AEI Council is regarded as a solution for coordinating the actions and taking decisions in the name of the alliance, said the analyst. Arcadie Barbarosie believes that the move is aimed at preventing the marginalization of the components of the ruling alliance. “The presidium is not an executive or legislative body. It is a coordination body whose task is to draw up the Government’s schedule. Any decision of the Government goes through the ministries and if a party wants to use the veto to block a decision it can do it through the ministry it manages,” said the political analyst. The Government’s presidium was set up in the January 12 sitting of the Parliament by making amendments to the Law on the Government. The decision was adopted by the unanimous vote of the AEI lawmakers. The Communist parliamentary group refused to take part in the voting. The presidium is composed of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers. The decisions within the presidium are adopted by consensus. If one of the Deputy Prime Ministers cannot attend the meeting, another member of the Cabinet is delegated to take part in it.
