The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) will implement the project “Counseling of the Government of the Republic of Moldova in economic policies” during the next two years. The conception of the project, which has a budget of €2.8 million, was presented to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac by the head of the GIZ team in Moldova Ronny Bechmann, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry of Economy.
Ronny Bechmann noted that this will offer consultancy services to the Prime Minister’s Cabinet and the governmental agencies that promote investments, in particular the commission on economy, budget and finance, the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Economy and the Moldovan Investment Attraction and Export Promotion Organization. The project will also support the implementation of the national strategy for attracting investments and promoting exports for 2016-2020.
“For the purpose, the project will sign a contract with a consultancy company that will afterward provide experts depending on the specific features of the activities that are to be carried out,” stated Ronny Bechmann.
According to Octavian Calmac, the project will contribute to the country’s sustainable development, including by improving the investment climate and attracting foreign direct investment to all the sectors of the national economy. “We welcome and appreciate the efforts of our partners to initiate and implement projects that come to support Moldovan authorities’ efforts to reform and modernize the national economy, to create an attractive environment for investors, new jobs, etc.,” stated the Deputy Prime Minister.
Currently, the German Agency for International Cooperation is implementing six projects to the value of €14.4 million in Moldova.
