The Government aims to ensure optimal conditions for the export-import relations between the economic entities of the Transnistrian region and their partners from the European countries, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov said in a meeting with the EU’s chief negotiator for the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with Moldova Luc Pierre Devigne. The Deputy Prime Minister said the steps taken are aimed at improving the socioeconomic situation in the region, IPN reports.
The Reintegration Office informs that the interlocutors exchanged opinions and information about the development of the commercial relations and the intensification of trade with the EU, especially as regards the prospects of implementing the DCFTA in the Transnistrian region. “This matter should be an essential one both for Chisinau and for Tiraspol,” stated Victor Osipov.
Luc Devigne welcomed the new Moldovan Government’s determination to step up the reformation process, saying the implementation of the DCFTA will be a decisive factor for Moldova’s future. He noted that the economic entities of Transnistria will enjoy preferences on the EU market if Tiraspol observes the Agreement’s provisions and the principle of reciprocity.
Transnistria’s exports decreased considerably and the region’s economy was seriously affected. The Transnistrian administration had to cut 30% of the salaries and pensions. The region’s hospitals haven’t received money for medicines and food so far this year.
