Government will allocate MDL 600,000 for the re-launching of the Soroca-Balti aqueduct

The Ministry of Finances will allocate MDL 600,000 from the Reserve fund in order to re-launch the Soroca- Balti aqueduct. The Cabinet of Ministers approved this decision on Wednesday, November 1. Prime-Minister Vasile Tarlev declared that the revitalization of the Soroca-Balti aqueduct represents a strategic priority for supplying the north of the republic with tap water. He requested that, during 2007, the Agency for Constructions and Territorial Development assures building links from this aqueduct to all the raions from northern Moldova, including Floresti, Sangerei, Telenesti, Rascani and Drochia. According to the PM, if till recently, the water supply was an acute problem just for the south of the republic, in the last years, the situation worsened in the northern raions as well. The aqueduct Soroca - Balti ceased its work in 2003, his functional state worsening year by year. The aqueduct has the status of state enterprise under the Agency for Constructions and Territorial Development.
