The government is making effort to prevent the people from taking part in protests by different methods and uses the law enforcement bodies for the purpose. Such statements were made by representatives of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Moldova’s former ambassador to the UN Alexei Tulbure said the discovery by the police of explosives and handmade bombs in two deserted buildings in Chisinau last week was a frame-up staged by order of the government so as to prevent the people from taking to the streets. “The ruling parties are afraid of elections and of protests. The PDM and PLDM will not win more than 10% together in the local elections. Thus they make effort to discredit the elections and the protests and to organize farces with terrorist threats,” he stated.

Political analyst Igor Botan also considers that the government is trying to stop the population from protesting. “The ruling parties use the police to scare the people. But the people must protest, especially after we were robbed of US$1 billion. By different envoys, the power is attempting to scare the people with a bloody ‘maidan’ in Chisinau. They should not scare us. The people will protest peacefully. There is a danger that the authorities will provoke this ‘maidan’ as it happened in Kiev, when the police affiliated to the power started to fire at the people,” he said.

Another representative of the platform Mariana Kalughin said it is a tradition already for the police, by order of the government, to scare the population so as to make the people vote for the ruling parties. “When there are elections, terrorist threats and dangers of destabilization appear every time. The elections pass and these invented dangers disappear. They may employ the alleged terrorist threats in order to remove particular candidates from the electoral race,” she stated.

The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” stages an anti-government protest in central Chisinau on June 7. The last similar protest mounted by the platform on May 3 involved 40,000 to 50,000 people.
