The economic courts will be liquidated by the present or future legislative body, Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase believes. “The bill wasn't passed owing to the insincerity inside the Alliance (the Alliance for European Integration – e.n.). A part of the members initially promised to support the bill, but rejected it for different reasons when voting on it,” Alexandru Tanase told the reporters, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Tanase said the bill will not be abandoned as it is necessary. He stressed the former government had a similar bill, but the interests pursued then also prevented the measure from being successful. On July 8, the Parliament rejected in second reading the bill providing for the liquidation of the economic courts. The bill obtained 48 votes of 51 needed. Veaceslav Platon, of the AMN, Valentin Cheptene, then member of the AMN, and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alexandru Stoianoglo, of the PDM, voted against. They argued the proposed amendments will cause chaos and confusion in Moldova's legal system. The head of the Liberal-Democratic faction Mihai Godea said then the mafia reached the Parliament as well.
