The Government said in a press release it plans to set up a specialised agency that will translate official documents written in foreign languages into the “Moldovan language” and vice versa.
According to Andrei Stratan, First Deputy Prime Minister and concurrently Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the necessity of creating such an agency derives from the constantly growing number of documents, international treaties and agreements that must be translated and certified as Moldova advances towards becoming a EU member.
Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev said Moldova has seen significant progress in meeting the European standards, but there is much work to be done in what concerns the translation of international documents. The Prime Minister gave instructions to establish a working group that would make preparations for the future agency.
