On Wednesday, November 8, President Vladimir Voronin visited the Government in order to criticize the ministers, within the frameworks of the traditional session, for the fact that the tomb of Emil Loteanu from Moscow does not have a monument.
The Prime-Minister Vasile Tarlev immediately reacted to the critics of the head of state. He proposed that, at the end of the session, a decision draft is urgently approved, providing for a work group headed by the Minister of External Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Stratan, which would operate an official investigation to identify the person responsible for the “negligence” as well as the causes of the lack of a monument at the tomb of the great film director.
At the same time, Tarlev requested the creation of a second work group, led by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Artur Cozma, also including artists which would work out the design of the monument and would assure its edification in due time.
The group headed by Cozma is also to analyze the condition of all the tombs and monuments of personalities from the R. of Moldova so that “in the future, the Government avoids similar situations”, said Tarlev, requesting that responsible persons create an action plan for taking care of the monuments.
On November 8, the poet, actor, and the great Moldovan director, Emil Loteanu would have turned 70. In order to commemorate the artist, an exhibition dedicated to his creation was organized at the National Library.
