Government to create an agency for managing tourist zones

The Government decided to create an Agency for the administration of tourist zones, subordinated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The institution will have the aim of improving the organisation and planning process of the tourism and ensuring the functioning of national tourist zones. The creation, administration and functioning of national tourist zones is stipulated in the Law on Tourist Activity Organisation and Operation in Moldova, passed by the Parliament on July 14, 2006. The Agency for the administration of national tourist zones will be competent to hold contests for granting the right to become a tourist zone resident, and to register the residents; to conclude contracts on leasing plots, to coordinate activities for the creation and arrangement of the infrastructure within the perimeter of the tourist zones; to secure protection and conservation of the zones. At the same time, the Agency will be responsible of inspecting the quality of tourist services.
